Overview

The Staff Software Engineer at Capital One Travel Tech is responsible for leading the technical design and development of applications that enhance the travel planning journey for users. This role is focused on creating a seamless experience from planning to booking travel, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a dynamic team throughout the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Act as a tech lead developer for cross-functional, multi-platform applications
  • Continuously improve the software engineering developer experience and identify tool gaps
  • Establish and uphold Engineering best practices and standards
  • Provide technical support to ensure adherence to Engineering best practices
  • Apply high-level design methodologies and ownership of architecture
  • Mentor junior and intermediate associates on engineering standards and practices

Required skills

  • 6+ years of hands-on development experience in Java, Python, Go, or similar languages
  • 6+ years of experience in application and data design, architecture, and development
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud products (like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud)
  • Mentorship experience for junior and intermediate associates
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
