Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer at Capital One's Travel Tech team, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing a travel portal that impacts the customer journey from planning to booking trips. This position entails working with a dynamic team to design and implement cross-functional, fault-tolerant applications while ensuring best engineering practices are established and followed.

Key responsibilities

  • Work throughout the Software Development Life Cycle as part of a dynamic team.
  • Act as a tech lead developer, owning technical design and development of multi-platform applications.
  • Continuously identify gaps in existing frameworks and contribute to improvements.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices and standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support.
  • Apply strong understanding of technology and architecture within the development process.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate associates in engineering practices.

Required skills

  • 6+ years of hands-on development experience with Java, Python, Go or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • 6+ years of application and/or data design, architecture, and development experience.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud services.
  • Experience mentoring junior and intermediate associates.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
