Overview

Capital One Canada is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their growing software studio in Toronto. This role involves advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture in a dynamic team environment, focused on innovative solutions for improving customer credit experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a tech lead developer owning technical design and development of application systems
  • Continuously improve software engineering developer experience
  • Identify and establish engineering best practices and standards
  • Provide technical expertise and support to ensure best practices are met
  • Apply strong understanding of evolving technology and contribute to High Level Design
  • Mentor junior and intermediate associates

Required skills

  • 6+ years of hands-on development experience in Java, Python, or Go
  • Experience with application and data design, architecture and development
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Leadership experience in software development lifecycle
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
