Overview

Capital One Canada is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their dynamic team. The role involves advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture of application systems within a company that has grown significantly since its inception in 2014, focusing on innovative credit solutions and utilizing modern technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a tech lead developer owning technical design and development of cross-functional application systems
  • Work throughout the Software Development Life Cycle as part of a dynamic team
  • Continuously improve software engineering developer experience and identify gaps in existing frameworks
  • Establish and identify engineering best practices and standards
  • Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate associates
  • Apply strong understanding of how evolving technology affects domain and contribute to High Level Design methodology

Required skills

  • At least 6 years of hands-on development experience using Java, Python, Go, or other object-oriented programming languag
  • Experience with application and/or data design, architecture, and development
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud products like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience providing mentorship to junior/intermediate associates
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
