Overview

The Staff Pharmacist at Optum will have the opportunity to apply clinical expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment, particularly at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. This role focuses on evaluating and interpreting medication orders, promoting safe and effective patient care through collaborative practice with healthcare teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities to ensure compliance with standards
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns for efficient workflow
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements

Required skills

  • ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred)
  • Active Louisiana pharmacist license
  • Experience with pharmacy systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years of recent pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting
