Overview

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Staff Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation to join their legal team in Carson City, Nevada. This primarily remote role involves managing a caseload of workers' compensation matters and representing Liberty Mutual and its policyholders in various legal hearings and negotiations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and revise legal strategies for discovery, investigation, and trial/hearing of cases.
  • Appear before the Workers Compensation Board and conduct depositions.
  • Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct settlement negotiations and advise clients and claims representatives.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and prepare training sessions for staff.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and lead a team managing workers' compensation cases.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in Nevada
  • Minimum of 5 years of attorney experience with a focus on Workers' Compensation
  • Experience with settlement conferences, expedited hearings, and depositions
  • Proven experience managing moderately complex litigation
  • General knowledge of insurance law and workers' compensation law
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in e-discovery tools and legal case management software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to ethical legal practice
