Overview

As a Staff Attorney at Liberty Mutual in Salt Lake City, you will join a diverse legal team dedicated to providing exceptional legal services and protecting policyholders' rights. This role involves representing the company in moderately complex civil litigation cases, managing the legal process from inception through resolution, and fostering strong client relationships within a supportive work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, and mediation.
  • Support Senior Trial Counsel in case management and preparation.
  • Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to clients.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline processes.
  • Identify and evaluate legal risks and collaborate on resolution strategies.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of legal documents and filings.
  • Maintain timely communication with clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency and best practices.
  • Uphold legal ethics and compliance standards.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in Utah
  • General knowledge of insurance law and workers' compensation
  • Proficient in e-discovery and case management systems
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills
  • Basic negotiation techniques and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and senior attorneys
