Overview

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Staff Attorney to join their legal team in Burbank, California. In this full-time role, you will manage workers' compensation cases from inception through resolution, providing legal advice and representation to the company and its policyholders while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and clients.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to improve legal processes.
  • Identify and evaluate legal risks and collaborate on case resolutions.
  • Ensure legal documents are accurate and compliant with standards.
  • Communicate timely updates and recommendations to clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency and best practices within the legal team.
  • Uphold legal ethics and compliance in all aspects of work.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in California
  • Knowledge of insurance law and workers' compensation
  • Proficient in e-discovery and case management systems
  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills
  • Basic negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and persuasion skills
  • Organized and process-oriented with strong time management skills
