Overview

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Staff Attorney to join their legal team in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will represent the company and its policyholders in routine workers' compensation matters, managing cases from inception through resolution while providing legal advice and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation including discovery, hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Support Senior Trial Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel in case handling.
  • Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline legal processes.
  • Identify and evaluate legal risks and collaborate on case resolution strategies.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all legal documents.
  • Provide timely updates and recommendations to clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency and best practices.
  • Uphold legal ethics and compliance within the legal team.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in California
  • Knowledge of insurance law and workers' compensation
  • Proficient in e-discovery and case management systems
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills
  • Knowledge of negotiation techniques
  • Effective communication and persuasion skills
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and senior attorneys
  • Organized with strong time management skills
