Overview

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Staff Attorney primarily remote in California to represent the company and its policyholders in workers' compensation claims. The ideal candidate will manage cases from inception to resolution while collaborating with a diverse legal team that values work/life balance and personal development.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation including discovery, hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings and motions.
  • Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to claims representatives and insured clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to enhance legal processes.
  • Identify and collaborate on strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of legal documents and filings.
  • Provide timely updates and recommendations to clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives for organizational improvement.
  • Uphold legal ethics and compliance standards.

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in California.
  • General knowledge of insurance law and workers' compensation law.
  • Proficient in e-discovery and case management systems.
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
  • Basic negotiation techniques and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and persuasion skills.
