Job Description

Overview

Mate Precision Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its financial operations through accurate accounting practices. This role involves financial analysis, general accounting, and credit and collections management, all aimed at ensuring fiscal responsibility and informed decision-making within the company.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly financial results compared to budget and prior periods
  • Identify and explain variances in revenue, expenses, and margins
  • Monitor cost trends and investigate unusual fluctuations
  • Assist with the annual budget preparation and ongoing forecasts
  • Support rolling forecast updates and ad hoc financial projects
  • Assist with the month-end close process and preparation of journal entries
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy and policy compliance
  • Manage fixed asset accounting using established software systems
  • Record and analyze payroll data for accuracy
  • Calculate and process sales commissions
  • Review and manage customer credit decisions
  • Monitor open accounts and address potential collection concerns
  • Conduct professional collection calls and document communications
  • Maintain accurate customer credit and collection records
  • Collaborate with leadership on account escalation as needed

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages accurately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Customer-focused, accountable, and adaptable mindset
