Job Description

Overview

The Sr Telecom Engineer at PacifiCorp will be responsible for designing, testing, and integrating telecommunications and network communications systems crucial for reliable electrical operations. This role includes provisioning and programming of various telecommunications equipment and delivering high-quality telecommunication infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership and technical expertise for the engineering team focused on Optical Transport Networks.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, support business units, and provide strategic solutions.
  • Complete detailed designs of telecommunications systems and scoping for complex projects.
  • Promote safe working practices and conduct meetings to discuss safety issues.
  • Consult with users to determine system requirements and evaluate feasibility of requests.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to support company systems.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6-8 years of related experience, including 1 year in a technical leadership role.
  • Expertise in voice, data, radio, and microwave communications systems.
  • Knowledge of Ciena 6500 and 3900 series hardware.
  • Understanding of ITU G.709, G.8032, G.8262, and IEEE 802.3 standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
