Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist Electrical Engineer with a focus on FPGA Design, based in Waterdown, Ontario. This role involves creating innovative solutions using digital design techniques in collaboration with other departments to develop high-quality FPGA designs, ensuring robust and reliable products for defense and military sectors.

Key responsibilities

  • Create FPGA designs using VHDL language
  • Simulate designs using Questa Sim
  • Utilize Xilinx design tools for synthesis, implementation, debugging, and timing closure
  • Assist the Verification Team as required
  • Integrate library modules within a larger FPGA design
  • Verify, test, and debug in hardware
  • Participate in regular design reviews
  • Present FPGA status updates at NPI project meetings
  • Support product sustaining operations
  • Generate high-quality documentation
  • Follow departmental practices and coding guidelines
  • Provide input and support to others outside of the FPGA team
  • Contribute to the team's knowledge by sharing lessons learned
  • Participate in company educational events and training
  • Propose ideas for and participate in continuous innovation
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Manager

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience (or 4 years with a graduate degree, or 10 years without a degree)
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques
  • Experience with Digital or Analog Video
  • Matlab for algorithm development
  • Experience with DO254 or other standardized safety critical processes
  • Eligibility for Canadian government security clearance
