Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Electrical Designer for their WESCAM division in Waterdown, Ontario. This role involves the architecture and development of complex electronic systems, focusing on high-performance hardware for defense and military applications. Key responsibilities

  • Architect and develop assigned projects and hardware subsystems.
  • Generate hardware artifacts including requirements, schematics, BOMS, and PCB design.
  • Conduct bench validation of hardware subsystems.
  • Support product integration and qualification of hardware subsystems.
  • Participate in project task estimation and management.
  • Schedule and conduct technical design reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering design practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems on production and customer equipment.
  • Provide technical support to various organizational areas.
  • Collaborate across engineering and business areas.
  • Monitor new technologies and leadership trends impacting product development.

Required skills

  • Design and implementation of complex electrical subsystems.
  • Practical knowledge of circuit card and wiring harness development.
  • Analytical skills for simulating design concepts.
  • Debugging and testing systems.
  • Experience with CAD and simulation tools (SI Wave, Hyperlinx, PSpice, Matlab).
  • Industry-standard schematic design and PCB layout tools (ORCAD, Allegro).
  • Knowledge of electronic components (Xilinx FPGA).
  • Familiarity with military and industry standards (MIL-STD 704, 461, 1275).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire for continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.
