Job Description

Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department in Tucson, Arizona. This role involves supporting the development, build, and verification of control actuation systems, with opportunities for hands-on hardware work and tasks including mechanical design and systems engineering. The position requires substantial experience and the ability to work autonomously within the control mechanism development domain.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for control actuation systems development
  • Engage in detailed mechanical design, test design and execution, and systems engineering
  • Work autonomously and provide strategic vision for functional and organizational strategies
  • Participate in engineering builds, hardware integration, tuning, and verification

Required skills

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design
  • Experience with systems or mechanical engineering of servo controls
  • Development of control actuation system requirements and architecture
  • Familiarity with feedback control systems and testing integration
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO for 3D modeling and drawing generation
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for machined parts and fabrication techniques
  • Experience using Matlab, Simulink, and dSpace
