Job Description

Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Precision Control Actuation Systems (PCAS) department in Tucson, Arizona. This role involves supporting the development, build, and verification of control actuation systems, providing mechanical engineering support that includes detailed design, earned value management, test design and execution, and systems engineering.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and verification of control actuation systems.
  • Provide detailed mechanical design and systems engineering support.
  • Flex responsibilities based on program needs and personal skill sets.
  • Work autonomously with expert knowledge in control mechanism development.
  • Engage in hands-on hardware work including engineering builds and hardware integration.

Required skills

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering design experience
  • Experience with control systems and mechanical engineering of servo controls
  • Familiarity with CAS requirements and architecture
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling
  • Skills in Matlab, Simulink, and dSpace
  • Moderate 3D modeling skills in a commercial software package
  • Design and manufacturing knowledge for various component types
