Job Description

Overview

Bee Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for TerraPower, LLC to develop design solutions for the Natrium Generation IV Reactor. This role involves collaboration with a skilled team focused on the conceptual and preliminary design of reactor core components and structures in the nuclear industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Create design solutions for reactor core components and structures
  • Produce design drawings, models, and specifications
  • Coordinate inputs from Engineering and Project teams
  • Manage and execute design planning activities
  • Develop tests to validate design requirements
  • Perform scoping analysis and trade studies for design options
  • Interface with cross-functional teams for design and analysis
  • Conduct engineering reviews of team members' products
  • Mentor and provide direction to engineers and subcontractors
  • Support continuous learning in nuclear industry best practices

Required skills

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of equipment/component design experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD and SolidWorks
  • Finite element stress analysis and mechanical analysis methods
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 5
  • Experience in nuclear industry operations and regulations
  • Knowledge of neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, and structural analysis
  • Experience with ANSYS for finite element analysis
