Job Description

Overview

The Sr. Lead, Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One will work within an Agile team focused on productionizing machine learning applications and systems at scale. This role involves the design, development, and implementation of machine learning applications, ensuring high performance and availability while applying the latest innovations in machine learning engineering.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and deliver ML models and components to solve business problems in collaboration with Product and Data Science teams.
  • Make informed decisions regarding ML infrastructure based on modeling techniques and issues.
  • Write and test application code, develop and validate ML models, and automate testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team to enhance big data and ML applications.
  • Retrain, maintain, and monitor models in production.
  • Construct optimized data pipelines to support ML models.
  • Utilize continuous integration and deployment best practices for ML models.
  • Ensure code is well-managed and models are governed from a risk perspective.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
  • 4+ years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java
  • 3+ years of experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems
  • 2+ years of team leadership experience in developing ML solutions
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Industry recognized ML frameworks like scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow
  • 3+ years of experience with data gathering and preparation for ML models
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
