Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster-UM at USAA, you will be responsible for handling attorney-involved, moderately complex underinsured and uninsured motorist claims. This role emphasizes delivering top-notch member service through effective communication and claims management while ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations. The position requires working in the office three days a week and offers the possibility of remote or hybrid work for eligible military spouses.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved soft tissue and moderately complex injury claims.
  • Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on bodily injury claims.
  • Investigate loss details and determine legal liability.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate claims in a timely manner.
  • Manage assigned claims workload and keep all parties informed.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues.
  • Partner with vendors and internal partners for claims resolution.
  • Deliver exceptional member service through proactive communication.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response as needed.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of auto claims adjusting experience
  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience with attorney represented claims
  • Proficient knowledge of auto claims contracts and state laws
  • Negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Time-management and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology
  • Sound financial judgment in handling claims
  • Knowledge of coverage evaluation and loss reserving
  • Insurance adjuster license within 90 days
