Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster-UM at USAA, you will play a crucial role in adjusting moderately complex auto claims involving uninsured and underinsured motorists, including those with injuries. This position emphasizes providing top-notch member service and requires collaboration, investigation, and effective negotiation skills in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved soft tissue and moderately complex claims, including UM/UIM claims.
  • Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on bodily injury claims.
  • Investigate loss details and determine legal liability efficiently.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate claims within authority guidelines.
  • Manage claims workload and provide timely updates to members.
  • Collaborate with team members and vendors for claims resolution.
  • Deliver a best-in-class member service experience.
  • Support workload surges and participate in mandatory on-call rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with risk and compliance policies.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 2 years of auto claims adjusting experience.
  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience with attorney represented claims.
  • Knowledge of auto claims contract and insurance regulations.
  • Proficient negotiation, investigation, and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Ability to exercise sound financial judgment.
  • Knowledge of coverage evaluation and loss assessment.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an insurance adjuster license.
