Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking a dedicated Sr. Injury Adjuster specializing in Uninsured Motorist (UM) claims to join their team. This role involves adjusting moderately complex claims, confirming coverage, determining liability, investigating claims, and delivering outstanding member services. The position offers hybrid flexibility and requires in-office presence three days a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved soft tissue and moderately complex claims
  • Identify and confirm coverage decisions on bodily injury claims
  • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, and evaluate claims
  • Negotiate and adjudicate claims within authority guidelines
  • Manage assigned claims workload and provide timely updates to members
  • Collaborate with team members and direct vendors for claims resolution
  • Support workload surges and participate in CAT response operations
  • Ensure compliance with risk and compliance policies

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2+ years of auto claims adjusting experience
  • 1+ year of injury adjusting experience with attorney-represented claims
  • Proficient in auto claims contract, investigation, evaluation, and negotiation
  • Good negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and solve problems
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology related to bodily injury
  • Ability to exercise financial judgment in handling claims
  • Proficient knowledge of coverage evaluation and loss assessment
  • Insurance adjuster license within 90 days of hiring
