Job Description

Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster- UM at USAA, you will manage and adjust attorney-involved Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM) claims, ensuring compliance with state laws and providing exceptional member service. This hybrid role involves being in the office three days a week and requires effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to handle a variety of claims in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved soft tissue and moderately complex injury claims
  • Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on bodily injury claims
  • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, and evaluate claims
  • Negotiate and adjudicate claims within authority guidelines
  • Prioritize and manage assigned claims workload
  • Collaborate with team members and direct vendors for claims resolution
  • Provide timely claims status updates to members and involved parties
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations
  • Ensure compliance with risk and compliance policies

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years of auto claims adjusting experience
  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience with attorney represented claims
  • Proficient knowledge of auto claims contracts and state regulations
  • Strong negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated time management and decision-making skills
  • Proficient knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology
  • Ability to exercise sound financial judgment
  • Knowledge of coverage evaluation and loss reserving
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days
