Job Description

Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster at USAA, you will be responsible for adjusting moderately complex bodily injury claims involving attorneys, ensuring compliance with state laws and delivering exceptional member service. This position allows for remote or hybrid work arrangements, with a focus on facilitating timely claims resolution in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved moderately complex bodily injury claims and related auto physical damage.
  • Confirm coverage, determine liability, and negotiate settlements under compliance guidelines.
  • Investigate loss details and document processes for evaluation and claims decisions.
  • Manage assigned claims workload to provide timely updates to members and involved parties.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and escalate appropriate matters.
  • Support workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed.
  • Act as an informal resource for less experienced team members.

Required skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience
  • 2 years of auto liability claims adjusting experience
  • Knowledge of auto claims contracts, case law, and state regulations
  • Negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Time-management and decision-making skills
  • Proficient knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology
  • Ability to maintain insurance adjuster license
  • 4 or more years of auto liability/casualty adjusting experience (preferred)
  • 1 year of medical claims handling experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (preferred)
  • US military experience or military spouse/domestic partner (preferred)
