Job Description

Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster at USAA, you will be responsible for adjusting moderately complex bodily injury claims, collaborating with attorneys and internal teams to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations. This role emphasizes delivering exceptional service to members while managing claims and maintaining detailed documentation. The position is available remotely in specific time zones, with a hybrid on-site requirement for those living within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved moderately complex bodily injury claims.
  • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, and negotiate claim settlements.
  • Document thought processes, investigations, evaluations, and settlement decisions.
  • Manage assigned claims workload and provide timely status updates to members.
  • Collaborate with team members and support members in resolving issues.
  • Partner with vendors and internal business partners for claims resolution.
  • Support workload surges and Catastrophe Operations as needed.

Required skills

  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience.
  • 2 years of auto liability claims adjusting experience.
  • Deep knowledge of auto claims contracts and case law.
  • Proficient negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time-management and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology for bodily injury claims.
  • Ability to exercise sound financial judgment in handling claims.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days.
