Job Description

Overview

As a Sr. Injury Adjuster at USAA, you will be responsible for adjusting moderately complex bodily injury claims involving attorneys, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations. This role involves managing risks, investigative processes, negotiations, and providing exceptional member service. The position requires a hybrid work arrangement with in-office presence three days a week.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust attorney-involved moderately complex bodily injury claims
  • Confirm coverage and determine legal liability
  • Investigate loss details and evaluate claims
  • Negotiate and settle claims within authority guidelines
  • Document claims process, including thought process and settlement decisions
  • Manage claims workload and provide status updates to members
  • Collaborate with team members and external vendors for claims resolution
  • Support workload surges and Catastrophe Operations as needed
  • Act as an informal resource for less experienced team members

Required skills

  • High School or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 1 year of injury adjusting experience
  • 2 years of auto liability claims adjusting experience
  • Deep knowledge of auto claims contracts and state laws
  • Proficient negotiation, investigation, and communication skills
  • Time-management and decision-making skills
  • Investigatory and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology
  • Ability to exercise financial judgment in handling claims
  • Knowledge of coverage evaluation and loss reserving
  • Insurance adjuster license acquisition within 90 days
