Overview

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for their Riverville Mill in Gladstone, Virginia. This role focuses on evaluating and addressing environmental challenges related to pollution, sustainability, and compliance with environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate environmental problems and develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Design, test, and implement systems for clean water supply, wastewater treatment, and air pollution control.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and obtain necessary permits.
  • Collect and analyze environmental data to monitor pollution levels and assess environmental impacts.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and process control personnel.
  • Conduct environmental reviews of trial plans for process changes.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science
  • 5-10 years of experience in a chemical/manufacturing facility
  • Problem solving abilities for complex environmental challenges
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating scientific information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of scientific principles in biology, chemistry, and soil science
