Job Description

Overview

Williams, White & Company is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer or Controls Engineer to apply electrical design standards to various projects, focusing on PLC and Industrial Controls. The role involves working with project managers and sales teams to develop control concepts, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure project objectives are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager in developing machine control concepts and estimates
  • Write technical sections of proposals and present project concepts
  • Develop project schedules and milestones
  • Monitor project scope changes and report to the Project Manager
  • Review and update technical objectives of the project
  • Provide electrical drawing packages compliant with standard operating procedures
  • Perform electrical design calculations and specify control hardware
  • Utilize AutoCAD for drafting
  • Write PLC, motion control, and operator interface software
  • Provide technical support to electrical designers and assist with fabrication coordination
  • Assist with system development and installation support
  • Stay current with technological developments and design practices
  • Travel and work additional hours as needed

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical engineering
  • Familiarity with NEC, JIC, and accepted electrical codes
  • Experience with AutoCAD for design work
  • Broad background in industrial control hardware
  • Proficient in programming PLCs, motion control, and data acquisition equipment
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based PCs and software
  • Ability to perform complex analyses and present information clearly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
