Overview

As a Sr. Distinguished Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One, you will provide technical leadership to teams focused on the production of machine learning applications. Your role will involve designing, developing, and implementing machine learning systems, and mentoring engineers while ensuring the performance and reliability of these applications.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver ML models and software components for business challenges in financial services
  • Drive the creation and evolution of ML systems
  • Lead large-scale ML initiatives with a customer-focused approach
  • Leverage cloud architectures for optimized ML model delivery
  • Optimize data pipelines for ML model input
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, Scala, and C/C++
  • Evangelize best practices throughout engineering and modeling lifecycles
  • Assist in recruiting and mentoring engineering talent

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years designing and building data solutions using distributed computing
  • 7+ years programming in C, C++, Python, or Scala
  • 4+ years experience with the full ML development lifecycle
  • Experience with Dask and RAPIDS or High Performance Computing
  • Experience with the PyData ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn)
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts
  • Leadership ability to attract and develop software engineers
