Overview

The Sr Director of AI Engineering at Capital One will play a crucial role in creating responsible AI systems that enhance customer experiences and redefine banking. This position involves leading the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team to develop and deploy advanced AI solutions, empowering teams to leverage AI effectively across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
  • Make high-judgment build-vs-buy decisions regarding AI technologies.
  • Introduce LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of production AI systems.
  • Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems.
  • Attract and retain top AI talent and promote professional development.
  • Foster a culture of learning and engagement with recent AI research.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Experience managing and leading an engineering team.
  • Background in deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
