Job Description

Overview

The Sr Attorney/Assistant General Counsel at PacifiCorp will provide legal assessments, interpretations, recommendations, and representation on corporate policies and issues. The role involves representing the company in regulatory hearings and offering legal counsel on various corporate and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent the company in state regulatory matters before public utility commissions in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming
  • Handle informal and formal settlement proceedings and litigation
  • Direct a legal segment covering specialized areas such as personal injury claims and environmental damages
  • Assess and mitigate legal risks and advise management on strategic matters
  • Establish and enforce legal policies and procedures
  • Consult with outside legal counsel and mentor less experienced attorneys
  • Manage legal staff and participate in the establishment of litigation reserves

Required skills

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of five years of legal experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local government laws and regulations
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Minimum of eight years of in-house or law firm experience for Assistant General Counsel role
  • Experience in discovery disputes and formal hearings
  • Familiarity with public utility commission administrative hearings
  • Energy industry knowledge preferred
