Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr. Associate, Structural Engineer (Stress) to join their Aeronautical Systems Engineering team in Greenville, Texas. The role involves performing structural analysis of aircraft, using both classical and finite element methods to ensure designs meet airworthiness requirements while contributing to national security.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of aircraft structure using classical and finite element analysis methods.
  • Develop free body diagrams and calculate internal loads and stresses.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on aircraft modifications and installations.
  • Document structural analysis in formal reports for compliance with airworthiness requirements.
  • Manage personal work to stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Travel to and from flight lines and work in aircraft hangar environments as needed.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of structural analysis experience or graduate degree with up to 2 years of experience, or
  • Proficiency in classical and finite element analysis methods.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with MSC Nastran, Femap, NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Ability to automate calculations using VBA or other programming languages.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret DoD Clearance.
