Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr. Associate, Structural Engineer (Stress) to join the Aeronautical Systems Engineering team in Greenville, TX. This role involves performing analysis of aircraft structures using classical and finite element analysis methods to ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of aircraft structure using classical and finite element methods.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop aircraft modifications and installations.
  • Generate free body diagrams and calculate internal loads and stresses.
  • Develop structural tests and post-process results for allowable strength data.
  • Document structural analysis in formal reports.
  • Manage personal work to stay within scope, budget, and schedule for assigned tasks.
  • Travel to and from flight lines and work in aircraft hangar environments.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree with two years of structural analysis experience or graduate degree with up to two years of experience
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of six years of structural analysis experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with MSC Nastran and Femap.
  • Familiarity with NX and Teamcenter.
  • Skills in automating calculations using VBA or another programming language.
