Overview

Fire Safety and Protection (FSP) is looking for a Sprinkler Fitter to join their team in Alabaster, Alabama. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of automatic sprinkler systems, ensuring that they operate effectively in compliance with safety codes and regulations. FSP values dedication and teamwork and is particularly welcoming to military veterans.

Key responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications for sprinkler system layout and installation.
  • Measure, cut, and install pipes using various fittings and connectors.
  • Install valves, alarms, and components of the sprinkler system.
  • Test systems for leaks and ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and replace damaged components as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and repair sprinkler systems, identifying complex problems.
  • Communicate with customers and stakeholders, providing project updates and resolving issues.
  • Maintain compliance with codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, including costs.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Required skills

  • Minimum 3 years independent field experience
  • Experience with Fire Protection Systems and components
  • Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license
  • Basic understanding of sprinkler layout
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Problem-solving abilities, working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to complete work records accurately and on time
  • Physical capability to lift 70+ lbs and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work flexible hours
