Overview

Fire Safety and Protection is seeking a Sprinkler Designer to join their team in Beltsville, Maryland. This role involves designing fire sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with codes, and collaborating with clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a commitment to safety and quality service in fire protection.

Key responsibilities

  • Design fire sprinkler systems projects for various building types
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather project requirements
  • Create detailed fire sprinkler system drawings using CAD software
  • Ensure compliance with fire, life safety, and building codes, including NFPA standards
  • Conduct field reviews to verify design accuracy and installation
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and technical assessments
  • Interpret architectural drawings and construction documents
  • Maintain communication with clients to ensure project success
  • Adhere to safety protocols during onsite visits

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience in fire sprinkler system design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoSprink, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with REVIT and BIM is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial orientation skills
  • In-depth understanding of NFPA standards
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • NICET Level 3 preferred, or Level 2 with willingness to achieve certification
