Overview

The SPED Teacher at The Paideia Academies Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, plays a critical role in supporting students with disabilities by developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents and educators. This position ensures compliance with IDEA regulations while providing a safe, effective learning environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with parents and educators to support academic and behavioral excellence.
  • Develop and annually update IEPs for qualifying students.
  • Design instructional programs tailored to students' needs as outlined in IEPs.
  • Consult with regular education teachers and support personnel to meet students' needs.
  • Coordinate required psychological and related services like speech and OT.
  • Schedule and lead IEP and SPED meetings.
  • Prepare necessary documents and notices for SPED meetings.
  • Engage in professional growth through meetings, facility visits, and literature.
  • Assist RTI staff in the pre-identification process.
  • Use formative assessments to monitor student progress and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education
  • SPED Certification
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Experience in teaching diverse students in special education
  • Knowledge of Arizona state standards
  • Skills in behavioral management and collaboration
  • Data analysis and communication skills
  • Compliance with IDEA regulations
