Job Description

Overview

As a Specialty Pharmacy Technician at UnitedHealth Group, you will coordinate and process medication orders, working closely with patients, providers, and insurers to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment. This full-time position operates within standard business hours at the Patient Service Center in Dublin, Ohio, and is a vital role in enhancing patient care through efficient pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Communicate with patients, providers, insurance companies, and pharmacy staff regarding prescription fulfillment and account inquiries
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations
  • Resolve or escalate issues related to billing or clinical concerns
  • Collect co-payments and assist patients with financial support programs
  • Prepare medications for shipment and assist with packaging
  • Maintain workstation supplies and cleanliness
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and staff committees as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active OH pharmacy technician license
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPhT)
  • Experience in retail pharmacy or healthcare (preferred)
  • Proficient typing and computer skills
  • Customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of payer processes and specialty drug requirements
