Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Specialist at L3Harris Technologies is responsible for designing highly complex opto-mechanical and electromechanical components from concept to production. This position is crucial as it involves addressing challenging technical problems while adhering to industry trends and maintaining a focus on national security through advanced technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for mechanical design and analysis of complex products from concept to production.
  • Carries out complex engineering assignments requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Modifies established methods and devises new approaches for project execution.
  • Completes difficult projects within defined timelines.
  • Contributes to departmental best practices and design approaches.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to other staff.
  • Participates in design reviews as a presenter or reviewer.
  • Supports the verification and validation of new product designs.

Required skills

  • Proficient in FEA for static and dynamics analysis, preferably ANSYS
  • Proficient in CFD analysis, preferably ANSYS
  • Knowledgeable in 3D CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks
  • Experience with Matlab or equivalent mathematical application
  • Well-versed in mechanical dynamics and vibration
  • Understanding of strength of materials and classical analysis methods
  • Proficient in opto-mechanical design principles
  • Familiar with machining, casting, sheet metal, and composites manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledgeable in rapid prototyping techniques
  • Understanding of Materials Science
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prepare detailed reports
  • Leadership skills and self-motivation
