Job Description

Overview

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer at their Orange, VA site, which focuses on Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development. The role involves supporting modernization and automation of processes, defect identification, and the creation of detailed manufacturing documentation under the guidance of senior engineering staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Support modernization and automation of manufacturing processes
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation
  • Assist in process, tooling, and safety reviews
  • Participate in design reviews and review applicable drawings
  • Develop and provide training/guidance to shop floor personnel
  • Monitor and review solid rocket motor manufacturing activities for compliance
  • Implement process improvements to increase operating efficiency
  • Demonstrate problem solving to address product non-conformance issues

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior manufacturing engineering experience
  • Graduate Degree and minimum 2 years of prior manufacturing engineering experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior manufacturing engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and statistical process control tools
  • Strong problem solving and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret end item drawings and specifications
