Job Description

Overview

The Specialist - Accounting Operations role involves supporting accounting functions within a close-knit team on a 6-month contract basis in Urbandale, IA. This position requires interaction with various internal stakeholders and focuses on critical cash application responsibilities in the broker-dealer industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Clear unapplied or unidentified cash
  • Follow up on changes to the broker of record with providers
  • Apply fees and other fee payments in internal system
  • Maintain database for efficient commission application
  • Work with Supervisory Principal and Representatives for revenue reporting and missing commissions
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve reconciliation issues
  • Prepare posting reconciliation between bank receipts and cash postings
  • Respond to Audit Requests (FINRA, SEC, D&T, AML, Internal)
  • Convert new businesses/acquisitions onto the company platform

Required skills

  • HS degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency with MS Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Engaged and motivated attitude
  • 2 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related discipline (preferred)
