Job Description

Overview

The Special Needs After School Coordinator at Sid Jacobson JCC is responsible for creating and delivering meaningful recreational and social experiences for neurodiverse children and adults. This part-time role involves planning and facilitating activities, ensuring participant safety, and collaborating with team members to improve program quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants at all times.
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate engaging social and recreational activities tailored to participant interests.
  • Encourage positive social interactions among participants and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to supervisors as per organizational protocols.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including daily activity logs and incident reports.
  • Attend required trainings and ensure certifications are up to date.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve program quality.
  • Develop and document behavior management protocols when necessary.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for supporting neurodiverse communities
  • Reliable and able to work collaboratively within a team
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R Training preferred
