Overview

The Special Education Teacher at Fremont School District 79 is responsible for providing case management and specialized instruction to students eligible for special education services. The role involves designing curricula tailored to individual needs, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in interventions to support students with behavioral and academic delays.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and instruct students using District approved curriculum based on student needs
  • Modify and adapt lessons to meet individual student's needs and IEP goals
  • Provide direct instruction using various techniques including individualized instruction and team teaching
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate for students' maturity and abilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure individual student's needs are met
  • Participate in problem-solving and intervention teams
  • Manage Individualized Educational Program (IEP) cases
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current best practices and laws related to special education
  • Maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior
  • Work with school personnel in the identification and remediation of students with specialized needs
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants
  • Attend various meetings including IEP, grade level, and parent meetings
