Overview

The Special Education Teacher at New Visions Aim Charter High School will focus on supporting at-risk students through a dynamic, competency-based curriculum. The role requires collaboration in a co-teaching environment and aims to enhance student achievement by managing behavior and implementing individualized education plans.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-teach five 55-minute classes
  • Collaborate in an Inclusive Co-Teaching (ICT) environment
  • Apply the SDI framework to support students with special needs
  • Manage student behavior using restorative practices and PBIS
  • Collaborate with teams to craft individualized learning plans
  • Track and discuss student progress, setting growth goals
  • Develop and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Design and oversee Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Engage in IEP collaboration and school events
  • Regularly review student data through an electronic management system
  • Attend a 3-week summer orientation and professional development series
  • Fulfill broader school roles, including mentoring and committee involvement
