Overview

The Special Education Teacher at Care Options for Kids will create inclusive learning environments for students with diverse needs in Kansas City. This role involves adapting the general education curriculum for students with varying degrees of disabilities while collaborating with general education teachers and families to implement tailored strategies for student success.

Key responsibilities

  • Adapt general education curriculum for students with mild to moderate disabilities
  • Deliver core academic and foundational instruction to students with intensive needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
  • Implement individualized strategies aligned to IEPs
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students

Required skills

  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Degree in Exceptional Student Education / Special Education preferred
  • Active General Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement in Kansas
  • Strong organizational and instructional planning skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learning needs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
