Overview

The Special Education Paraprofessional at Connected Roots Care Center (CRCC) supports early childhood and school-age students with diverse needs by providing academic and behavioral assistance in the classroom. This role is essential for ensuring a safe and effective learning environment and involves direct interaction with students, staff, and parents at CRCC's Northwest and Southwest Centers in Omaha, Nebraska.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in implementing daily activities according to the educational curriculum
  • Provide personal care support and document client activities through Tadpoles
  • Communicate daily with parents regarding their child's activities
  • Engage with students to meet their emotional and developmental needs
  • Follow guidelines for client safety and adhere to Nebraska childcare regulations
  • Foster social skills and independence among students
  • Assist in classroom management and maintain a clean and safe environment

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in a licensed childcare center or public school system preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Patience and flexibility in dealing with clients and team members
  • Ability to document and understand individual client care plans
  • Knowledge of positive behavioral support techniques
  • Willingness to complete required training and continuing education
