Overview

The SOR Pathfinder at the Helen Ross McNabb Center is a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for engaging and supporting clients in substance use treatment and recovery. This role involves conducting assessments, providing referrals, and ensuring ongoing follow-up to help clients achieve their goals, all while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and utilizing effective communication strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Engage directly with clients, providing assessment and support for substance use disorder treatment
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within designated time frames
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies in client interactions
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources to assist clients effectively
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, maintaining healthy communication
  • Respond to client communications promptly and professionally
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to uphold required certifications

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Addictions, Social Work, or related field
  • Two years of experience in substance use treatment and recovery
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess client needs using relevant tools
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and trauma-informed care
  • Computer proficiency for documentation and communication
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a personal vehicle
