Job Description

Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonographer to perform diagnostic examinations using sonography at their Raleigh location. This role involves working in a collaborative team environment while providing compassionate care to patients and supporting their needs during high-stakes medical evaluations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic OB/GYN ultrasound examinations
  • Assist physicians in invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS
  • Conduct saline infusion sonography
  • Utilize cognitive sonographic skills to adapt procedures based on diagnostic information
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and work areas
  • Assist in training new physicians, residents, and fellows

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or ARDMS certification
  • BLS certification
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certification within 18 months of employment
  • Experience in clinical assessment and diagnostic imaging
  • Strong communication skills with patients and healthcare teams
