Overview

Berkshire Search Partners is seeking a hands-on Software Test Engineer to join their engineering team in Springfield, Virginia. The ideal candidate will work closely with various teams to validate the performance and reliability of communications systems, focusing on testing and troubleshooting technologies used in government and defense sectors.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute software and system test plans
  • Perform integration, functional, regression, and acceptance testing
  • Configure and maintain test environments
  • Validate system functionality and performance against requirements
  • Troubleshoot software, networking, and hardware-related issues
  • Document test results, defects, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues and improve product quality
  • Support customer demonstrations, field testing, and product evaluations as needed
  • Assist with system deployments and technical support activities

Required skills

  • Experience in Software Testing, Systems Testing, Integration Testing, or Quality Assurance Engineering
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience working with Linux environments
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, SIP, VoIP, routing, and switching
  • Experience using network analysis tools such as Wireshark
  • Ability to create and execute detailed test plans and test procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
