Overview

Lowes Foods is looking for a Smokehouse Pit Master to join their team in Johns Island, South Carolina. This role involves providing excellent customer service and actively engaging with guests while maintaining high operational and sanitation standards in the smokehouse department.

Key responsibilities

  • Become the Pit Master with dedication to smoked meat
  • Interact with guests and create an engaging environment
  • Ensure smokehouse staff provides friendly service
  • Engage guests with freshly prepared smokehouse samples
  • Demonstrate superior guest service at all times
  • Operate the department according to merchandising and operational standards
  • Ensure product quality meets Lowes Foods standards
  • Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department
  • Provide training and feedback to smokehouse staff
  • Perform product preparation, receiving, ordering, and stocking
  • Maintain HACCP required product information log sheets
  • Perform light meat cutting duties as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Required skills

  • Friendly, energetic, and outgoing personality
  • Ability to engage guests and draw attention to the Smokehouse
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Previous meat cutting/trimming experience
  • Culinary knowledge or background preferred
  • Ability to read and understand information and direction
  • Knowledge of deli and meat department operations
  • Ability to supervise and train staff
  • Effective communication and guest service skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations
