Job Description

Overview

The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for managing and enforcing safety compliance on-site at Grand Forks Air Force Base. This full-time role requires the SSHO to develop safety plans, conduct training, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and implement site-specific Accident Prevention Plan
  • Develop and review Activity Hazard Analysis and Work Plans
  • Document and lead weekly safety meetings and inspections
  • Conduct Near Miss and Incident Investigations with Root Cause Analysis
  • Oversee safety training programs and provide project safety orientations
  • Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines during substance disposal

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of construction industry safety experience, preferably in federal government projects
  • EM 385 1-1 certification
  • 30-hour OSHA Certification
  • Various safety training certifications including First Aid/CPR and Hazardous Materials training
