Job Description

Overview

As a Shop Mechanic II at McLane Company, Inc., you will be a critical member of a diverse team responsible for maintaining and repairing trailers and refrigeration units. This role requires a blend of mechanical and electrical repair skills, and you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in a supportive environment while ensuring operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace components such as clutches, water pumps, tires, and brake systems.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot cooling systems.
  • Perform simple and complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Read and utilize service bulletins and technical manuals.
  • Maintain shop tools and complete all required paperwork.
  • Comply with company work and safety rules.
  • Be available for shop on-call rotation and make road calls when necessary.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Trade school education in heavy duty diesel repairs and/or refrigeration classes.
  • ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) preferred.
  • Class A license preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with heavy duty electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively.
